Thunderclan

The “Smart Move” season was Thunderclan’s first-year in FIRST LEGO League. Our team had five 6th graders, coached by a group of dads. Two students are from Livingston and three are from Short Hills.
Their “Tribrid” research project is about the design of a small, green energy vehicle that can be used in local communities and cities. They believe their “Tribrid” will have a positive impact on communities throughout the world. Since the regional qualifier, they had fine tuned their robot with raise-able dual light sensors to go over obstacles. They actively presented their project to the experts and communities including NJIT environment engineer professors, Millburn Township Mayor, Chinese School, Livingston Library etc.
The team won 1st place Research Project award at Hillsborough Qualifier, and 2nd place Robot Design Award at NJ State Championship with 315 points to place them 7th place in robot performance competition.
