r2d2

This second-year team consists of five 5th grade boys, who trains year-round at Storming Robots Center.
In their first season for the 2009 “Smart Move” season, the team worked on their FLL project “Walk 4 GREEN & B Fit“. They brainstormed questions to ask the community in an online survey to find out how kids got to school and to see if parents might like the idea of having their kids walk to school with other kids as part of their research and data gathering. The team was really excited to receive 149 responses to their survey and to hear tat thee community was interested in learning more about the ”walking school bus”. The boys read about the benefits of a walking school bus to help reduce congestion around the elementary schools. Their presentation included a walking map, drawings of a solar paneled school bus, and graphs from their survey results. r2d2’s “Smart Move” research project won the Project Award at the regional qualifying event.
