Competitive Robotics Programs

There are many competitive robotics programs where students can get hands-on learning opportunities through guided challenges.  Below provides an overview of some of the programs.

Livingston Robotics Club (LRC) is a robotics community for K-12 based in Livingston, New Jersey, USA. It was founded in 2007 (officially incorporated in 2010). It was created and is operated on a purely voluntary basis by parents and mentors passionate about our mission.

FIRST LEGO League offers three divisions for ages 4-16, introducing STEM through hands-on learning. It emphasizes real-world problem-solving and growth in thinking, coding, and design skills.

VEX Robotics Competition engages students worldwide in grades 4-8, tasking them to design robots for game-based challenges. It fosters teamwork, leadership, communication, and STEM skills.

RoboCupJunior (RCJ) educates students up to age 19 in local to international robotic events. It emphasizes technology learning through three cooperative challenges: soccer, rescue, and onstage.

Our purposes and missions are:

- To create a town-wide, community-based organization to introduce and educate K-12 youth in Livingston and its surrounding area within the state of New Jersey about robotics design, real-life science and engineering and related activities

- To provide them the opportunity to display their education and talents by participating in competitive and demonstrative events involving robotics.

- To increase youth interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) in students by engaging them in project-based programs organized by networks of volunteer mentors and educators

- To build academic skills, encourage innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, and foster well-rounded life learning skills such as self-confidence, time management, communication, teamwork and leadership.

- To provide a network of support between mentors, coaches, parents, teachers and students to share experiences, exchange ideas, collaborate, share resources, perform community outreach, and organize events.
