LRC Teams Awarded at NJ State FIRST LEGO League Championship 2010

Landrias, Exit 5 Robotics, Supreme Machine

Three Livingston Robotics Club (LRC) teams competed in the 2010 New Jersey FLL State Championship tournament on 12/11/10 at Mt. Olive High School.

Exit 5 Robotics had the best showing of the day.  This rookie team of 4th-grade girls took home the 3rd place Robot Performance with a high robot score of 320 points and a Judges Award.

The 6th grade all-girls team Landrias was well favored as a role model by many other all-girls teams at the tournament.  However, during the first robot round in the afternoon, a stray object that was not removed promptly had caused the robot to jammed and ripped out one of its motor.  Although the team did frantically tried to rebuild the robot and re-tune the programs, their robot performance has suffered tremendously. In the end, Landrias persevered and earned a 3rd place in Robot Design.

Team Supreme Machine with four 7th and 8th grade boys, was a consistent performer.  The team maintained top 10 in robot performance throughout the tournament with a high score of 290 points.

Out of 44 teams participated at the Championship, teams Jaquars (#9610) from Plainsboro had won the 1st place State Champion’s Award and 1st place Robot Performance, with a top robot score of 345 points.   Veteran team Yobotics (#6403) from Montclair earned the 2nd place State Champion’s Award. Both teams will be nominated as the Core Value teams for a chance to represent NJ to compete at the 2011 FLL World Festival to be held at St. Louis in April.
